Entry Courtyard

Updated: Jun 27, 2018

We were tasked with updating this entry courtyard earlier this year.  A very cool house, clean and dramatic – not only is the courtyard the initial experience of the home, but it can be seen from several of the rooms inside the home, which makes it desirable to compliment the architecture and interior design.  This was a solid candidate for ‘less is more’ and I didn’t want to overcrowd it.  It needed space.  We left the existing Yaupon Hollies in place to give some structure and an upright element and brought in a few evergreen ferns, some potted Cast Iron plants for the front door, one pot of bamboo and Mexican Beach Pebbles.  I just love the way it turned out and there is even space to add a small zen fountain in the future.  A challenge to photograph, but one of my favorites this year!
